It takes time, effort and support to fully harvest the long-term recovery of Overeaters Anonymous. But, with only a little more willingness and an open mind, together we see new positive results. Those are the effects of OA’s “inside job,” working wonders on our eating and body image issues, whatever they may be. This inner work is outlined in our Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, Nine Tools of Recovery and in OA’s literature. May this Members page support you on your journey of recovery.

The OA Promise

I put my hand in yours, and together we can do what we could never do alone.

No longer is there a sense of hopelessness. No longer must we each depend upon our own unsteady willpower.

We are all together now reaching out our hands for power and strength greater than ours, and as we join hands, we find love and understanding beyond our wildest dreams.

Print Useful Documents

There are many useful documents you may print for yourself or your meeting, including MAI’s Meeting Lists, Bulletins, Cocoons, Event Flyers, Newcomer Welcome, and from WSO the Strong Abstinence Checklist and the Strong Meeting Checklist.

Find a Sponsor

The Twelfth Step Within committee of MAI helps members find sponsors.  The committee maintains a list (We Care List) of members who are willing to sponsor and help in other ways, such as providing transportation to a meeting.

If you need assistance with these, you may call 414-259-0640 and ask to be referred to the Twelfth Step Within Committee Chair, or email the committee chair at 12th–stepwithin@oamilwaukee.org.

If you wish to do service by being on the We Care List, you may do so by calling or emailing as specified above.

Find Other Members Like You

The Milwaukee Area Intergroup has connections with young members, newcomers and others.  If you would like assistance with these, you may call 414-259-0640 and ask to be referred to one of these committee chairs or email the committee chair at any of the following:

Connect With Men in OA

Find a Meeting in Eastern Wisconsin

The geographical area served by the Milwaukee Area Intergroup (MAI) includes Greater Milwaukee and all of eastern Wisconsin from Green Bay and Oshkosh to Kenosha and Lake Geneva.  The area extends as far west as Wautoma and Watertown and north to Iron Mountain MI. There are approximately fifty meetings in this area. At all OA meetings there are no dues, fees or registration.

Meetings are held every day of the week in eastern Wisconsin.  We recommend calling the meeting contact person to confirm details.

Find a Meeting Worldwide or a Phone or Online Meeting

To find meetings in a location outside eastern Wisconsin or to find online and telephone meetings, use the World Service website:

Attend an Event

A prime component of all events is fellowship. Attendees have the opportunity to hear from abstinent speakers, meet members from other area meetings, experience new ways to approach their own recovery and gain new insights that may not be evident in a weekly OA meeting.

Milwaukee Area Intergroup holds several varied events throughout the year:

  • Newcomers Workshops are designed especially for newcomers to OA and include speakers and Q&A.  They are held quarterly, often in Wauwatosa.
  • Holiday and WSO-sponsored events are located in and around Milwaukee and in other eastern Wisconsin communities.
  • Workshops, Conventions, and Retreats occur annually.

Listen to a Podcast

Listen to the podcasts to learn you are not alone and there is hope for your recovery in OA. Recordings include virtual workshops on a variety of topics, information on working the 12 steps and inspirational messages from members who share their experience, strength, and hope to bring the Twelve-Step program of Overeaters Anonymous to life.
